Judith Barnes, Ph.D., is an educator and entrepreneur with a four-decade consultancy in communication. She is also the author of four books, her essays have aired on public radio, and she was a co-writer and executive producer for a short film on personal responsibility screened at many festivals and featured on a public television program. She was a founding officer of a company commercializing micro fuel cells as a future power source, and has been active on behalf of civic, education and arts organizations in her community.

When not on a plane, she lives in Albany, NY with her cigar-loving cat.

Barnes’ writing makes us feel that.  Her essays - part poetry, part prose, all powerful - capture the potential, the pleasure, the goodness of a moment, even in the face of pain or death.  Each short piece takes only a moment to read but shows how life can be fully lived.

It’s good to be alive

“Just couldn’t wait to tell you how much I enjoyed your book! When I went to buy it…it was sold out, so I had to wait until it arrived yesterday. Anyway, I laughed, I cried, I literally sobbed. It was great!”

“Congratulations on a beautifully crafted book….I enjoyed reading your essays, admired your honesty and your sense of humor, and was struck by your insights into ordinary moments.”

“I am a truck driver and get books to read every week on the road. I bought yours for the trip last week and read it all in one night, which surprised me. I’m not a poetry guy but this is kind of a poetry for everybody and I got so much out of it that I wanted to thank you for writing it.”
